DON WROTE:

Hello Islam

Thanks for keeping us up to date with what's going on in your life. When you find a wife, you have found a good thing. In fact, the Bible says: "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD" (Proverbs 18:22).

However, in spite of what the Bible says about marriage, there is a move afoot to abolish the Scriptural concept of marriage and replace it with "unions." In the U.S. it began in earnest in the '70's when our youth went into rebellion against the Scripture's teaching on fornication and adultery with the practice of "live-in" unions. The reasoning behind this was at least two-fold: i.e.,(1) it was an attempt to show authority figures, God included, that no one could tell them what to do with their bodies; and (2) it was a futile attempt to have sexual relationships with no responsibilities. Except for a few that eventually got married, these relationships ended up in disaster with young people messing up their own lives as well as bringing babies into the world without the well-being and nurture of a family unit. We still have to see the final results of their experimentations. Now, of course, we have the sodomite community clamoring about their "unions," trying to force their lifestyle down our throats and even attempting to coerce politicians to change laws that would make what the Bible calls "perversion" a legitimate part of our society. What's next?

But back to "a good thing"--i.e., the Scriptural union of a man and a woman. God has lavished His creation with good things, too numerous to even mention, but at the top of these is the gift of sex, designed by God to be used for the consummation of the marriage union between a man and a woman. This is one of the very greatest of gifts, not only because it allows a man and a woman to express their love in a very special and wonderful way, but also because it helps to form a secure base on which to build and meet the needs of a family, a community, and a nation.

But there is another reason for the Scriptural union of a man and a woman which is even more awesome than the consummation of a marriage. The marriage union was also instituted by God so that we might have an inkling of how Christ Jesus looks upon His relationship with us. In the Scriptures Jesus is referred to as the Bridegroom while the Born-again Church is known as the Bride of Christ.

Matthew 22
1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

In the parable, God is the certain king, Christ Jesus is the son, and the wedding will be the union of Christ Jesus and His Church. True, this spectacular wedding is for a future date; but for each believer, the union with Christ takes place when he or she receives Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.

I Corinthians 6:
19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

In our land, a marriage is not valid unless it has been consummated by the sexual union. Likewise, our spiritual relationship with Christ must be consummated in this life.

II Corinthians 1:
22Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

In the natural, Jesus says that a man and woman that enter into the mystical union of marriage become "one flesh."

Mark 10:
6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to
his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but
one flesh.
9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Similarly, to belong to God, one must become One with Christ in the Spirit.

John 17:
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be
sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on
me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee,
that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast
sent me.

I say all of this to make a point. If one truly belongs to Christ Jesus, they will know it as surely as they know that they have become one with their mate. My prayer is that those who are bringing the Word to the Muslim communities are not simply replacing the dead words of the Koran with the "letter that killeth" of which Paul warned the first Church, but that they are preaching enough of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ that God can honor their preaching and fill the listeners with His Spirit.

II Corinthians 3:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

God understands man's tendency to want to have a "law to live by"; so he had the Apostle Paul pen the following:

Romans 8
1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

It is our prayer that God will bless your union with Rimi, and that He will show you plainly the union that He wants with you.

Maranatha,

Don

TO OUR CYBER VISITIORS:

This was taken from http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/ and is worthy of comment:

When it comes to major moral and social issues, the Nehemiah Institute spokesman contends there is a dramatic difference in thinking between students in public schools and those in Christian schools. This is because, while Christian school students are generally taught curricula predicated on a biblical worldview, students educated in public schools, even when they grow up in Christian homes, tend to a very high degree to adopt the non-biblical and socialistic worldviews of the secular humanists in control of their education.

"In the last hundred years," Smithwick asserts, "and especially in the last 30 years, this is the audience that is shaping the public square in America, hands down. And they didn't really have to fight for it -- we [in the Church] gave it to them. Somewhere along the way we decided that the public square really wasn't our business. It wasn't our playground; they could have it, and they've had their way with it."

As a result, the Christian education advocate says, even Christian students are growing up to become a part of a society with an increasingly secular-humanistic and socialistic worldview. "Now we've got a mess on our hands," he says, "and it's really our fault. So we've got to change that. We've got to repent before God. We've got to go back and understand that worldview means God is interested in everything he created."

Smithwick's worldview test consists of a series of statements carefully designed to identify a person's worldview in five categories: Politics, Economics, Education, Religion, and Social Issues (PEERS). Each statement is framed to either agree or disagree with a biblical principle.

B'ANN WROTE:

When I came across this article, I had to pause and consider since my chosen profession in the secular world is that of a school teacher. I have to go back to my youth and remember my first teacher, Miss Annie E. Poor thing. She had taught my dad and his siblings and then she was teaching their offspring. Often, the teacher is the butt of jokes and she was!!! She didn't need to read the Scriptures to "scare the hell out of us." She had a Model A car that had no brakes. Every morning she would come tearing into the school yard from the north, whip around the west and south sides of the school building and head back north. The boys were told to throw a large piece of firewood in front of her tires to stop her as she came up the slight incline. She was a sight to behold in that car. She had a large bosom which she draped between the spokes of the steering wheel; then, with a death grip and clenched teeth, she would begin the drive to school. We were forbidden to ever accept a ride from her. Yet, every morning she stood steadfastly before the class and read from the Bible. She never commented for in the 1940s the philosophy was that one should not add to or delete from the Scriptures. It was commonly believed that if The Word of God was read aloud, in any form, that it would SPEAK FOR ITSELF. It was in this atmosphere that I grew up. Never did I hear any of my teachers expound upon the Bible to sway us in any particular belief.

Back to Miss Annie. She did the work of a lazy, non-committed church for if she had not read the Scriptures each day, we would never have heard them. Let me repeat that statement! WE WOULD NEVER HAVE HEARD THEM! Most of the students did not attend the church services which were held for only two hours on Sunday morning. (Which were held in the schoolhouse). The foothills of Arkansas, where this stone schoolhouse nestled, was an area not known for eloquence of speaking. The explicative of our area, otherwise known as cuss words, were the norm and not the exception. (My baby sister learned to cuss before she could talk because of the foul language of the carpenters who were building our new house.) So, there stood Miss Annie, a small stone in a vast dam against unscriptural morals. The Bible reading done as part of the opening exercises for schools worked for many years until our Supreme Court decided it was taboo.

However, the question remains, "Did the government/Supreme Court ruling stop Bible reading in schools or did God, Himself, allow it?" God never did say, "Go ye, Public Schools, into all the world and teach the Gospel" I think the Scriptures go something like this:

Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

To whom was He speaking? We find that He addressed a specific group of confirmed, seasoned believers.

Mark 16:14
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

Could it be that God is making the people who are called by His name accountable? Could it be that we can no longer "hire" a preacher/teacher to do the work of the "church?" (Actually, could we ever???) Could it be that we have gotten so far away from the true call of the church that we are "sleeping on the pews" all during the week and not just during the Sunday sermon??? These questions are so simple to answer. How long has it been since each one of us did the command of "go ye...?" What does this mean to a person that claims to have the Hope of the world living inside them??? I challenge you to get out the calendar for the year and record any "go ye's" that you have done.

Now a wise man/country would stop and consider the "face" of our country today. Is is a beautiful face? a blemished face? or a painted one??? We have rampant sex with no thought of responsibility. In fact, the tax payers have to pay for illegitimate children whether they want to or not. We haven't conquered any major social ills whether it be crime, disease, governments, family, or religious issues. Do you think our "face" as a nation looks anything like the dignified one in the Statue of Liberty?

Being a Christian is so simple...as simple as the birth of Christ in a manger. Jesus' birth and life was the most humble ever lived on earth; yet, He declared Himself to be the Son of God. Consider this!!! True humility is the authority of Christ. Just "stand your ground" everyday and every minute of your life. I don't mean to act righteous and religious. Just learn the merits of a Spirit-filled, Spirit-led life. Jesus didn't come to put a burden on us that we could not handle, that would make us miserable. He did give us a commission, but then He gave us the love and the power to do His will via the indwelling Holy Spirit Who is given to all who believe. It's as simple as listening to that "small, inner voice" and doing the acts of love and kindness He implants in our heart!

Question-Comment: I read through the comments they were all interesting...Let me bring up a topic which I believe has great importance involving the Revelations of the Bible.....the Mayan Calendar which is 25,000 years long....called the long count calendar ends on December 21st, 2012. Which means if we we subtract the 7 years from the revelations, if they coincide, the revelations would begin on December 21st, 2005. In Mayan mythology some individuals believe that Christ was born into Mayan culture near 1040 AD "before his death he said it was time to return to his other people"...under the name of Quezalcoatl.... they believed that Quezalcoatl (the plummed serpeant) would return on December 21st, 2012. This is when there is an alignment with the sun and the milky way....which only happens once every 25,000 years.....they believed the
milky way to be the birth canal of the universe...where all the spirits reside and are born...and reborn. Just thought some of you may find this interesting.

Dear Fukifaitaa,

I will start with this basic Scripture that we must know during this time.

Matthew 24
25 Behold, I have told you before.
...
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

It seems we keep repeating ourselves on this matter of setting dates. So let me also repeat: we were never commanded to worry about a date for Christ's return but rather to "keep our watch" during this Age of Grace. Our watch is to keep doing the Great Commission over and over and over (to "watch" for a chance to share John 3:16) and to put the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus ahead of our own (to "watch" over one another). If we are doing these things, we can know that we are truly expecting ("watching for") our Lord's return. In the Scriptures, we are allowed/admonished to watch for the "signs" of our Savior's return which should be signs for the believer to be about the Lord's harvest. It is highly unlikely that God would tell us a great secret that He did not even give His Son. How arrogant we are to make such a presumption that God would tell a man something that He did not see fit to even share with His Only Begotten Son when He was on this earth!!! Also, doesn't it make sense that such knowledge would be too heavy for a man to carry? Let's consider the Scriptures.

Matthew 24
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
...
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
...
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
...
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
...
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
...
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Again, let me say that the "signs" that we are to "watch for" are compared to signs in the weather that a farmer watches as he tends to the crops in the field. We know that if a storm is coming which would destroy the harvest, then we need to go into the field and work extra hard to try to get as much as possible into safe storage. The same with the "go ye" message in the Great Commission. We are supposed to go ye, go ye, go ye as never before if we even think that there is the possibility of the return of the Messiah. We are not to go around with a hopeless message of doom but with the message of Hope in John 3:16.

For the Christian workers, when is the "time of harvest" ? It coincides with the command to "pray without ceasing". The Lord Jesus tells us to pray for the harvest.

Matthew 9:38
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Luke 10:2
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

John 4:35
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

1 Thessalonians 5
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
...
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
...
17 Pray without ceasing.
...
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
...
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Let me end with this warning again for those who are wasting their time trying to set dates when they should be witnessing.

Matthew 24:
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

For our Cyber-visitors, let me touch on this matter of Quezalcoatl so that you might have an idea of what Fukifaitaa is talking about. If you will go on line, you will find that Quezalcoatl is a figure from Mexican folklore: i.e., one of the gods that they created to help explain creation. Apparently Quezalcoatl was first imagined by the Aztecs Indians of Central America and then embraced by Catholics in the area. Also, if you will check out the following link, you will see that it would appear that some Mormons want to add him to their religious beliefs. (Visit http://nowscape.com/mormon/quetzal.htm) All of this should not be surprising since Catholicism has embraced all manner of mythology and superstitions down through the centuries and the very birth of the Mormon church is shrouded in fairy tales that Joseph Smith claims to be new Scripture. Consequently, both religions are susceptible to such fables. (These observations should not be viewed as an attack on any born-again believer in the Catholic church or in the Mormon church. They are simply observations of what has happened to these religions because of the input of self-serving men down through the years.)

I call such beliefs fables because we at DOWEKNOW have built our lives and our ministry on the Bible's claims about itself: i.e., that it is the unadulterated Word of God--totally without error, and settled in heaven so that not one jot or tittle of it shall pass away until all that it says has been fulfilled--and that no one is permitted to add anything unto it! [If anyone has never heard of the inerrancy of the Scriptures and would like to study out what the Bible has to say about itself, check out the following Scriptures.

II Timothy 3:16 ("All Scripture is given..."); II Peter 1:20-21 ("All prophecy is given..."); Matthew 5:18 ("Not one jot or one tittle..."); Luke 24:25-27 ("...O fools, and slow of heart to believe all..."); Matthew 24:35 ("Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words..."); John 10:34-35 ("...cannot be broken...") Revelation 22:18 ("If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues...")]

Because the Word of God is settled in heaven and kept by God, the devil cannot do away with it. Consequently, the only thing left to him is to build confusion around the Bible so that men and women might be deceived! Today's Catholic church and Mormon church show the fruit of his efforts; but they represent only a little of the confusion that he has brought upon the world. In the 50's, when the church members began "hiring preachers" to do their evangelization in their stead, the devil began filling the void brought about by the church's folly. Because education, entertainment, and the news media are the three most influential entities in our society, the devil's attack on them was relentless. Without a Spirit-filled Church to slow him down, he made great gains in all three fronts. I say this because of your "off-handed" remark about the Mayan Calendar being 25,000 years long--as though such a time period for the Mayan dynasty is acceptable. (Need I remind you of the lesson that history teaches us in regards to the Mayans. Their mighty civilization has disappeared from the face of the earth. Whatever they believed to be their religious foundation did not stand the test of time as the teaching about Christ has done.)

Unfortunately, too many church members would find no fault with this 25,000 time period because they have been taught evolution in schools instead of the Creation account. In fact, many "scholars/scientists" contend that because carbon-dating does not agree with the time line of the Scriptures, that the Word of God is in error. The truth is, however, these "experts" are the one in error--not rightfully dividing the Word of God. They fail to comprehend that the earth has gone through four periods of "time." The first period was in the Garden of Eden when man was on God's time wherein a thousand years of our present time is as but a day (II Peter 3:8). The second period started the day that Adam and Eve transgressed, bringing sin, pain, and death upon the human race. This was the time of longevity when men and women lived for centuries--some even living to be over 800 years old. The third period was sometime after the flood when God decided to shorten man's life span to 110 years (Genesis 6:3). The fourth period is the 70 year average life span that we have today (Psalms 90:10). For a scientist to think that God did all of this without altering the DNA of His creation shows a disregard for his profession and an unavoidable error when trying to apply today's carbon testing on the DNA of another time. I say all of this not to be argumentative, but to present a way of thinking that is not taught in our colleges and universities in the hope that it might bring someone to examine their way of thinking. After all, if one can see that he might have been taught incorrectly concerning carbon-dating, then he or she might consider rethinking the Cross of Calvary and the Son of God dying there for the sin of His Creation so that "whosoever will" might choose life over death!

Question-Comment: Please tell me what is a Biblical clock?

Yan Fang
Don Wrote:

Hello Yan,

I'm assuming that your question is in reference to our on-line book THE CLOCK OF THE AGES. We chose this name for our book because it is one of the attributes of God to know the end of His Creation from its beginning and that all things are moving towards a final culmination of His will. The Bible is full of passages where God shares His foreknowledge with us and the passages are known as "prophecy." I will not go into the particulars/Scriptures here, for we go into the details in our on-line book. It is true that no man can know the day or the hour that the Lord Jesus will return for His Church; but it is also true that Christ commanded us to watch for His return and to be aware of the "watch" in which we live.In the book THE CLOCK OF THE AGES we have used a "prophetic clock" to lay out the things that God has foretold for His creation in a logical fashion so that they might be easier to comprehend.

It is fantastic that God can know the end from the beginning, but then it is a fantastic God that can speak to nothing and make it become you and I and the heavens and earth in which we live!

Thanks for WRAPPING with us,
